Sales Representative | Project Leader (with Farm Labor Duties)

About the Role

Alfaro Tree Sales, Inc., a family-owned tree nursery serving the San Antonio area since 1977, is seeking dedicated Sales Representatives and Project Leaders to join our team. This is a full-time position for individuals who are passionate about the outdoors, enjoy hands-on work, and want to grow with a company rooted in family values, integrity, and service.

This role blends customer-facing sales duties, project leadership, and hands-on farm labor at our beautiful 60-acre tree farm. You’ll serve as a primary point of contact for customers, while also assisting with inventory, maintenance, and tree installation projects. Ideal candidates are self-motivated, honest, hardworking, and punctual.

Physical Demands

This position is physically demanding and involves consistent outdoor labor. You must be able to:

  • Work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and humidity.
  • Perform repetitive, strenuous tasks such as bending, lifting heavy objects (50+ lbs), pulling, shoveling, and standing for long periods.
  • Operate equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Job Duties

Customer Service & Sales:

  • Greet and assist customers, providing expert advice and tailored tree recommendations.
  • Drive retail and wholesale sales through excellent service and product knowledge.
  • Communicate project timelines, pricing, and tree care guidance clearly.
  • Participate in trade shows and industry events to represent our brand.
  • Handle customer concerns professionally, escalating as necessary.

Project & Nursery Operations:

  • Load/unload delivery trucks and customer vehicles.
  • Place and track tree inventory, ensuring organized and accurate records.
  • Assist with scheduling and leading on-site tree installation projects.
  • Maintain and improve the appearance of the farm, including:
    • Planting and potting trees
    • Trimming and exposing root flares
    • Cleaning pads and work areas
    • Mowing, weed-eating, pulling weeds
    • General groundskeeping and maintenance

Qualifications

  • Minimum age: 18 years old
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus
  • Ability to work Monday through Saturday, 40–60 hours/week
    • Farm: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
    • Delivery crews: until approx. 6:00 PM
  • Willingness to work outdoors 100% of the time

Physical Demands

Working on our tree farm requires physical strength and hands-on skill. You must be able to:

  • Work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, and rain.

  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment both in the shop and out on the field.

Job Duties

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet of tractors, trailers, diesel engines, and other machinery.

  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance logs, and parts inventory.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of mechanical safety procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and manage repair timelines efficiently.

About the Role

Alfaro Tree Sales, Inc. is seeking a reliable and safety-focused CDL Class A Driver who is also comfortable contributing to farm labor duties when not on the road. This is a hands-on, physically active role that supports the safe transportation of trees, equipment, and materials while also participating in on-site operations.

This dual-role position involves driving and outdoor physical labor. You must be able to:

  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, humidity, rain).
  • Repeatedly lift, carry, or move 50 lbs or more.
  • Load/unload trees and equipment using both manual and powered tools.
  • Stand, bend, walk, and dig for long periods during farm tasks.
  • Maintain alertness and safe practices during extended driving periods.

Job Duties

  • Operate CDL Class A Vehicles safely to transport trees, equipment, and team members to various job sites and customer locations.
  • Load and unload trees, tools, and materials securely to prevent damage in transit.
  • Assist customers at delivery sites with paperwork, product handling, and resolving basic quality concerns.

  • Support farm operations when not driving—this may include planting, watering, digging, repotting trees, clearing pads, and general nursery work.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and functionality, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Track mileage, delivery paperwork, and job site documentation accurately.
  • Follow all state, federal, and company safety regulations and report safety concerns immediately.
  • Work closely with crew members and supervisors, adapting to changing job site needs and priorities.

Qualifications

  • Valid CDL Class A license with clean driving record.
  • Experience driving commercial vehicles, preferably with trailers or farm equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly, perform manual labor, and work outdoors full-time.
  • Basic mechanical awareness of vehicles and small equipment is a plus.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic and willingness to follow direction.
  • Time management and punctuality are essential.
  • Basic English communication skills required; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
